Find Your Lost Phone With Android Device Manager

I was reading the Official Android Blog yesterday and came across this little piece of information that made me quite happy!

"Have you ever lost your phone in between the couch cushions or forgot it in a restaurant? Or maybe searching for your phone before you rush out the door is part of your morning routine? Later this month, the new Android Device Manager can help you out.", said +Benjamin Poiesz, Google's Product Manager for Android.

Easy Way To Install Software On A New OS - Ninite

So you got a brand new PC or laptop. Or maybe you formatted your old system and are left with a sparkling clean installation of the OS. Now begins the annoying task of installing all the third-party software you need. So the process you follow will be something like this- Go to the manufacturer website of each application, download the installer, start it up and accept the 'Terms & Conditions' without a second glance, mindlessly keep clicking the 'Next' button..wait..go back and uncheck that 'Free Toolbar' option..click Next..Next..Finish. Rinse, repeat.

Is there an easier way to do this? Yes! Step in a little gem called Ninite.

Folder Size

One grouch I've always had with Microsoft Windows is that it doesn't display the size of a folder directly in Windows Explorer. I guess Microsoft skipped implementing this functionality due to efficiency reasons. However, the earlier versions of Windows(95/98/2000/XP) allowed you to view the size of a folder with a little shell scripting  Unfortunately, this can't be done in Windows Vista and higher.

So how to we check folder sizes now? Right clicking and selecting Properties and waiting for the folder size to show up isn't the only way out any more.

The continuation of my earlier post. Apologies because I was forced to cheat and include one app that's not free here. But believe me..this app is totally worth your money.

In this part, I'll focus on utilities and tools that'll make your Android phone more productive.

Awkward Tech Moments in 2012

2012 was a good year for technology. Well..umm...mostly. It wasn't smooth sailing for everyone. Quite a few of the major technology players had their share of embarrassing moments this year, though, some these fails can be attributed to the marketing team rather than the product itself. These are some of my favourite facepalm moments of 2012.

How To Hide Files Inside An Image

That top secret research you're doing which will save the world. Or that love letter you wrote for the love of your life. Or that stash of photos that are not that decent or umm...shareable with everyone (I mean those adorable childhood pictures your mom took of you getting potty trained when you were a baby. I swear..that's what I was talking about. Honest!). Well we've all got something we wanted to hide from prying eyes at some time of point. And in this age of digitisation, we rely a lot on computers to store all these top secret files for us.

Well this is an old but neat trick to hide files on your PC. It works because most people wouldn't really think of hiding stuff inside an image.
